Dr. Luigi L. Polla opened his dermatology practice in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1986, and was the first dermatologist to offer pulsed dye laser technology to treat children suffering from Port Wine Stains and hemangiomas. Parents brought their children from near and far to have Dr. Polla erase these debilitating birthmarks, an endeavor that required numerous treatments over a period of months, sometimes years.
Ada Polla, Dr. Polla’s daughter was already working with her father back then (at the front desk) and remembers hearing the children crying from the pain, as the laser treatment created heat and discomfort, redness and inflammation, and a burning sensation. Ada shares that there is something her father can’t stand; it is a child in pain (he switched his medical specialization from pediatrics to dermatology after realizing he could not handle seeing terminally ill children). He needed a product to help make them feel better – to help heal their skin.
Not finding the right product, he created his own “recipe.” He would send his patients’ parents to a neighborhood pharmacy with a compounding prescription, the pharmacist would whip up a magical product in little white jars right there and then, and the child would stop crying. The prescription was for what is known today Alchemie Forever’s Kantic® Brightening moisture mask. This compounded product, meant to help heal the kids’ skin post procedure, smelled so good that the mothers ended up also using it, and asking for more at the follow-up appointment: “it makes my skin glow,” they would say. For their convenience, Dr. Polla and his team ended up “pre-making” the product.
One product led to another, and to another, and finally to the brand that became Alchimie Forever.

INGREDIENTS WITH INTENT
We rigorously vet every ingredient we use in our formulas. Each ingredient is measured for its efficacy, sourcing, and environmental impact. Our formulas all work in harmony with the skin’s natural function so we can deliver noticeable results without irritation or discomfort. At minimum, we never use:

BARBARA CLOSE
Inspired by childhood visits to apothecaries with her aunt in France, Barbara embarked on an exploration of natural healing at an early age. Barbara now holds a Master’s degree in Therapeutic Herbalism and credentials in esthetics, advanced massage and aromatherapy. Her expertise was tested when her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. During that difficult time, Barbara used lemon balm tea to ease her mother’s anxiety, her own calendula cream to soothe her mother’s sensitized skin, and peppermint aromatherapy to quell her mother’s nausea.

Saian® Skincare was founded in 2006 by world-renowned and state-certified educator, Ambassador of the Aesthetics International Association (AIA), Margarita Saian. Saian and her daughter emigrated from Russia in the early 1990s. She had studied esthetics and mesotherapy in the United States as well as in France, and dedicated 20 years of her life to the professional skincare industry. In addition to being a Licensed Esthetician, Ms.Saian was a CMA/Cardiac Technician, National Certified Phlebotomy Technician, Certified ECG, and Certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant. Ms.Saian has had the honor of training skin care professionals, nurses, and doctors worldwide before she passed away from Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer, at the young age of 59 in 2015. She was constantly researching new ways to raise industry standards and improve the Saian product line. Ms.Saian actively practiced a healthy lifestyle, and was an avid advocate of natural living.
Dasha Saian Marchese is the co-founder and current CEO of Saian® and has over 21 years of experience in the spa industry. In addition to her Business/Marketing degree, she is a licensed Esthetician, certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant, official Ambassador of the Aesthetics International Association (AIA), and certified Family Herbalist. Dasha is on the Editorial Advisory Board of Dermascope Magazine, she gives lectures and classes internationally and regularly contributes to global trade publications.
In 2013, Margarita was suddenly hospitalized with a grade 4 Glioblastoma, a malignant tumor the size of a baseball in her brain. Needless to say, Dasha put her business on the back burner for two and a half years and stayed home to take care of her mother and 86-year-old grandmother. They went through 2 brain surgeries, clinical trials, radiation and chemotherapy for 2 years, physical and occupational therapy, special organic diets, affirmations, meditation, kundalini yoga… everything that they could think of to keep amazing Margarita alive. After her passing in 2015, Dasha took over the company, and is now going stronger than ever creating products and treatments passionately, and proudly carrying on Margarita’s legacy.
